President Biden Announces Vaccine Mandate for Certain Businesses

Last Thursday, President Biden announced that certain businesses will soon be required to either mandate vaccinations or weekly Covid-19 tests for their employees. This latest mandate comes as Covid-19 cases in the U.S. continue to rise due to the Delta variant, reports Footwear News.

“The industry will continue to encourage Americans to voluntarily protect their own well-being and that of their families by getting vaccinated,” says Edwin Egee the VP of Government Relations and Workforce Development.

Employers will be required to accommodate employees who ask to opt out of the vaccine due to religious or disability-based reasons.

The lobbyist group Business Roundtable, which members include prominent CEOs from companies such as Target, Nike, and Walmart, have voiced support for this action in a statement they released Thursday.
