IKEA (Delft, Netherlands) has announced the launch of its Buy Back & Resell service in the U.S., beginning with its Conshohocken, Pa., location. It will run for a limited time from Aug. 30 through Sept. 19, 2021, according to a company press release.

The new service will allow shoppers to sell back gently used IKEA furniture. In exchange, customers will receive store credit. Other shoppers can then buy the gently used items through the store’s “AS-IS” section. Furniture that is sold back must be fully assembled and functional. Any recalled products will not be accepted.

Jennifer Keesson, Country Sustainability Manager, IKEA U.S., says, “At IKEA, we are passionate about making sustainable living easy and affordable for the many, and want to be part of a future that’s better for both people and the planet. We hope the Buy Back & Resell service inspires our customers to live a more sustainable life at home while giving their used furniture another life and a second home.”
