The sugar-free lozenges will come in a 50g bag with a recommended retail price of £1.29.

Elizabeth Hughes-Gapper, brand manager, said: “It is important we offer our customers a variety of flavours and we are absolutely thrilled we are absolutely thrilled to be launching our most-loved flavour Throat & Chest in sugar-free.”

The medicated confectionery category is up 73.8% in value sales and 50.2% in unit sales within the last 12 months.

Established in 1907, Jakemans uses no artificial ingredients and its lozenges are suitable for vegetarians.
