Chinese art toy retailer Pop Mart has opened its largest Australian store yet at the Westfield Mt Gravatt Shopping Centre in Brisbane.
“We had a stunning grand opening on September 30, where visitors enjoyed a diverse experience and expressed their unique selves through art,” Pop Mart said in a LinkedIn post.
Last July, the company opened its first store in Brisbane and its third in Sydney. The company opened its first two stores in Sydney in March.
Pop Mart also has operations in Melbourne, where its first Australian store is located.
“As a representative of China’s art toy industry, we will continue to deepen our business development in Australia, and bring in more art toys from China, interacting with consumers from different cultural backgrounds and creating more artistic and cultural sparks,” said Yuki Wu, GM at Pop Mart Australia and New Zealand.
Around 60 per cent of Pop Mart’s product offer comprises blind boxes sold in collections. In much the same way as buying a Kinder Surprise is all about the excitement of cracking open the chocolate egg to find out what’s inside, many collectors buy a Pop Mart blind box for the sense of mystery, without knowing what is inside the box until after purchase.
