LAB I: A CONCEPTUAL RETAIL EXPERIENCE

Lab l by Atelier Prototipi redefines the retail experience with its innovative spatial approach and interactive design. Spanning just 50 square meters, the box-shape boutique flooded in transient hues of purple and black facilitates a closer and more direct engagement between buyers and products by eliminating intermediaries, optimizing limited space, and embracing adaptability. Visual dynamism is achieved through the strategic placement of just three-dimensional elements, with a monolithic console with an interactive surface and a spiral dressing room crafted from curved amber glass serving as focal points within the buyer’s interaction area. Meanwhile, the plane of the ceiling, adorned with suspended mirror balls, conceals the ventilation system which enhances the illusion of weightlessness. Additional adjustable storage modules for garments and accessories separated by are integrated into the walls, ensuring a clutter-free experience.

Lab I’s partially transformed interior structure includes a reincarnated frontage with two wide glazed openings. Within, Atelier Prototipi envelops the space with a distinct ‘second skin’ that integrates technical infrastructure within the contours of the shop’s walls, holding technical equipment and communications within its boundaries. The wall’s top, differing in height, is divided by the perimeter of a stepped strip that conceals ventilation holes.

An interior palette transitioning from illuminating purple to burnt black plaster floods the space, enhancing a sense of futuristic spaciousness forming contrasting masks to spotlight the objects on display, while forming visual continuity between the street and the shop floor. A dynamic contrast pattern adorns the floor plane, while furniture elements echo the color scheme’s futuristic, gradient effect. The design team addresses sustainability concerns with the bespoke black polyurethane composite foam pouffe, upcycling plastic waste. Additionally, central to the interior concept is adaptability, enabling efficient transformations to accommodate trends and consumer preferences. Installed interior elements allow for rapid reconfiguration of elements, ensuring the shop remains dynamic and responsive.

Atelier Prototipi utilizes cutting-edge technology to streamline the shopping experience and offer convenience and autonomy to customers. Online registration and purchasing are facilitated through an interactive screen embedded within the table, while an intelligent control system assumes the roles of consultant, sales personnel, and administrator. Automated light and climate controls ensure optimal comfort and efficiency.
