Design supports cancer research with Love Design® initiative backed by ADI

Lombardia Committee of AIRC Foundation for Cancer Research announces together with ADI (Association for Industrial Design), the tenth edition of Love Design®, the biennial initiative that rallies around the world of design to support cancer research.

The appointment, taking place from the 1st to the 7th of November 2021, brings together a prestigious parterre of Italian companies in an event that, for its tenth anniversary, is renewed and transformed into a digital one, thus becoming a national initiative.

The Love Design® website is transformed into a high-profile showcase with over 5,000 design and fashion objects, through which donors will be able to concretely contribute to financing three 3-year scholarships for young researchers, each worth 75 thousand euros. The initiative is increasingly confirmed as a moment of authentic social participation and, at the same time, a unique opportunity to receive rare objects at home, under very special conditions.

In support of the event, personalities linked to the world of design, fashion and entertainment will lend their faces to further amplify the resonance of the project: Antonio Aricò, Sarah Balivo, Clara Bona, Marco Castelli, Serena Confalonieri, Chiara Frigerio, Gnambox (Riccardo Casiraghi e Stefano Paleari), Tomas Ghisellini, Marco Guazzone, Paola Marella, Gilles Massè, Lucia Peraldo Matton, Gala Rotelli, Elena Salmistraro, Clara Soccini and Alberto Vanin.

This year’s campaign will be interpreted by photographer Angelo Ferrillo, with the collaboration of stylist Maria Gentile, who will portray the subjects in the prestigious headquarters of IFOM, the FIRC Institute of Molecular Oncology: an advanced high-tech research centre dedicated to studying the formation and development of tumours at the molecular level, thanks to the constant support of AIRC as well.

The 2021 edition also relaunches the Love Design® Lottery, which had already been an extraordinary success during the last edition, raising additional funds for the research. The final draw will take place on Sunday 7th of November, and it will be an opportunity to discover the winners of 60 wonderful prizes, including a Fiat 500, a Vespa 50 Sean Wotherspoon, a stay in Sirmione, fashion and home accessories, jewellery and much more. All ticket sales points are available on lovedesign.airc.it.

Love Design® for cancer research

Love Design® is the biennial appointment with design organized by the Lombardia Committee of the AIRC Foundation in collaboration with ADI (Association for Industrial Design).

The exhibition event was born in 2003 at the East End Studios in Milan with the name “Design Supports Research” as a moment of different encounters with solidarity, concrete help from the best Italian design brands and the public to finance Italian cancer research.

In 2007 the event changed its name to Love Design® and in the following editions, it was hosted in different locations (La Permanente, FieraMilanoCity, PAC, Fabbrica del Vapore).

Over the course of its 9 editions, Love Design® has raised more than 2.8 million euros to support the aims of the AIRC Foundation.
