#WeWearAustralian returns to convince Aussies to support local fashion

Showroom-X has launched the second annual #WeWearAustralian campaign in a bid to keep support for local brands high beyond the initial impact of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The message is simple: #WeWearAustralian asks customers, if they have the ability and desire to buy clothing now, to look to the local industry for inspiration.

The campaign focuses on driving online sales in the absence of bricks-and-mortar trade and wide cancellations of wholesale orders, and, according to Showroom-X chief executive Richard Poulson, drove around $3 million in sales last year.

“In light of recent Covid-19 lockdowns, extended retail closures and the ever-growing financial strain on our incredible local industry, there has never been a more crucial moment to support our Australian makers, manufacturers, visionaries and craftspeople,” Poulson said.

“Out of adversity often comes great strength and the Australian fashion industry is creative and resilient, and we are grateful for the collaborative spirit driving this year’s initiative.”

The campaign is once again partnering with Thread Together to help clothe the needy, and provide a platform for local brands to act more sustainably and meaningfully. Participating brands, which are offering discounts throughout the month, are asked to also make a tax-deductible donation or pledge of product to Thread Together.
