Struggling with labor shortages, department store retailer Macy’s has asked its corporate employees to work in stores during the holiday season, reports Business Insider.

In a corporate memo obtained by The Washington Post, Macy’s asked its corporate staff to volunteer for shifts in stores in a program it calls “Experience Elevation Elves.” Workers were asked to volunteer for three full-day shifts in stores.

Earlier this year, Macy’s said it hoped to hire 76,000 employees to work in its stores, call centers, distribution centers and fulfillment centers. About 48,000 of these hires were to be seasonal workers.
