The Commvault offices in Utrecht are tough and industrial to reflect the data protection company’s commitment to keeping clients safe with the use of their technology. Hollandse Nieuwe and Mancini Duffy collaborated to design an efficient office for data protection company, Commvault, located in Utrecht, Netherlands.

Commvault helps companies store, protect, optimize and leverage their data anytime, from anywhere.

In recent years, Hollandse Nieuwe has designed various locations for Commvault in the Netherlands, Germany and Switzerland. When Commvault moved to another location in 2020, Hollandse Nieuwe were again asked for the interior of the new office. This office was designed in collaboration with Mancini Duffy Architect NY. They were responsible for the global guidelines, Hollandse Nieuwe made them relevant to the local situation.

With an eye for circularity and minimum waste, we carefully looked at what could be taken from the old office to the new location. In addition to taking all the loose furniture with us, the Corian desk has also been moved. Due to the heavy weight and size of the counter, it could not be carried in one piece and it was sawn into pieces, moved, rebuilt and finally polished so that it looks like new and the seams are no longer visible.

The new Global Concept for Commvault consists of a sober color palette with accents in oak and raspberry red. The appearance is tough and industrial, but at the same time light and spacious. The new work environment consists of an open work floor where closed spaces and writable room dividers are placed in strategic places.

Much attention is paid to good acoustics. Almost all newly installed walls have a fabric or felt finish and the architectural ceiling is finished with acoustic spraying. Because the ceiling is open and all installations remained in sight, much attention has been paid to the position and appearance of the installations and lighting.

This creates a pleasant working environment that is open and flexible, but also offers visual and acoustic safety that is necessary to work properly.

The boardroom and meeting area are located in the heart of the new office. These are the showpieces of the design. They feel rich and warm due to the use of different shades of blue, the diversity of materials and textures and the special lighting.
