Hermes reimagines Brisbane boutique

French luxury house Hermes has unveiled its newly revamped store in the heart of Brisbane, which was first opened in 2010.

The store was designed by the Parisian architecture agency RDAI, which is also behind the designs of other famous Hermes’ stores, including Hermes Sydney Trust Building and Hermes Omotesando in Tokyo. One of the stand-out points is the apparent absence of the brand’s quintessential orange brand colour which tended to dominate the design of its older stores.

Located at the intersection of Edward and Elizabeth Streets, the store features an off-white facade highlighted by soft lighting, creating an elegant exterior style. Large windows allow natural light inside the store.

Marking the launch, a carved wooden silver-leafed Pegasus and a Unicorn created by Sydney-based sculptor Gustavo Balboa is also displayed at the store’s facade to welcome guests and onlookers.

Upon entering the store, customers are welcomed by Hermes’ ‘ex-libris’ etched into the mosaic in cool water hues, the house’s signature inspired by the Faubourg Saint-Honore Parisian Flagship store. The flooring features a fresh, light-coloured terrazzo finish, resembling “the endless beaches and lush subtropical rainforests in the state of Queensland”.

“A rich lustrous ceramic finished wall and rugs in the shade of the evergreen leaves of the native Eucalyptus tree creates an intimate atmosphere,” the company described.

Hermes’ craftsmanship can be seen in the vibrant colours of the women’s and men’s silk collection, perfumes, fashion jewellery, and home collections.
