Ebay Australia has extended its Authenticity Guarantee to a range of high-end sneaker brands from designer brands like Louis Vuitton, Gucci, and Balenciaga.

Ebay’s Authenticity Guarantee is extended to both pre-owned and brand new sneakers priced at over $150. This comes after Ebay’s acquisition of Sneaker Con’s authentication business last November.

Under the guarantee, each sneaker will carry an Authenticity Guarantee badge which examines various aspects of the shoe including stitching, logo placement, leather quality and smell. Genuine pairs are shipped with an NFC tag containing an encrypted digital authentication certificate.

Ebay Australia’s Sophie Onikul welcomed the healthy growth in the sneaker category of the company. “More than 1.5 million sneakers have been authenticated globally on Ebay in just over a year, demonstrating just how popular this service has been.”

“Sneakers are a billion-dollar industry in Australia and as more brands enter the market, including highly sought after luxury designers, the demand from sneakerheads and sneaker flippers continues to grow,” she said.

The list luxury brands covered under Ebay’s Authenticity Guarantee is: Adidas, Alexander Wang, Alexander McQueen, Asics, Balenciaga, Bape, Burberry, Chanel, Converse, Crocs, Dior, Fear of God, Fendi, Givenchy, Golden Goose, Gucci, Jordans, Louis Vuitton, Maison Margiela, New Balance, Nike, Off White, Patta, Puma, Reebok, Saint Laurent, Under Armour, Vans, Valentino, Versace, Yeezy and Yohji Yamamoto.
