JAM the Label to talk access and inclusion at Retail Fest

Inspired by their clients, two attentive occupational therapy students launched JAM the Label in 2019 after seeing a massive gap in the market.

Meeting at university, Emma Clegg and Molly Rogers were both working casually in disability support. With continued conversations surrounding the difficulties their clients faced in dressing and sourcing stylish pieces that were also functional, the need for JAM was evident. The name JAM was formed as an amalgam of Jack and Maddie, paying homage to two of Emma and Molly’s favourite clients.

Passionate about accessibility for everyone, particularly young adults with disabilities, Emma and Molly make the perfect team. With similar backgrounds but varying strengths and interests, both Emma and Molly have continued working in the disability sector as occupational therapists and disability support workers. Absolute powerhouses, this pair work hard alongside their business, paving the way of the future in fashion and the retail space.

What is JAM?

Without compromising on style, JAM saw a huge gap in the market for functional clothing. Did you know one in five people have a disability and that majority of clothing brands don’t cater to these people? With self-expression, independence and dignity in mind, JAM was created!

Many labels and everyday brands are exclusive, in terms of sizing, functionality and price. JAM’s aim is to make clothing inclusive for everyone. Everyone deserves to choose clothing that they feel good in and that serves a purpose to them. JAM offers independence and comfort to its customers in pieces that are stylish and functional.

When can I see the session with JAM?

As a brand built on inclusion, JAM will lead out an incredible panel of industry leaders for the Inclusive Retail Panel that will take place in the Leadership Stream on Thursday, April 14. Joining Molly and Emma will be the National Retail Association’s CEO Dominique Lamb and Emily Elvey, Customer Experience Lead at M.J Bale who will discuss how we, as an industry, can improve access to the things we all need and clothing that makes us all happy, comfortable and confident.

Where can I join the conversation?

Retail Fest brings together the best and brightest of e-commerce in one location to celebrate the industry, share knowledge and network with peers. Taking place from April 11-14, 1500 sellers will descend on the Gold Coast to discuss all things online retail across seven streams of content and 150 speakers along with over 80 solution providers that have the answers to your most challenging questions.
